Default Agriculture Stock Picks

I believe that the U.S. economy will get worse before it gets better. As such, I believe that investing in the agriculture (and manufacturing) sector will be a pretty sound move.... especially companies based in foreign countries.

The only foreign agriculture stock that I currently own is FEED, and it has been performing pretty well for me (bought @ $2.38).

Anyone else feel the same way? Watcha buying?

I've just started researching into CNOA.OB, GRO, SEED, CZZ

P.S. Note the signature :D

Default GRO

GRO is recommend by Jonathan Lebed on his site. Lebed.biz

Here is what he said:
May 18th, 2009:
Agria Corporation (GRO)
Current Price: $1.65
Speculative Rating: 1 (highest level of confidence)

GRO is a China agriculture company that produces and sells high margin corn seeds, sheep breeding products and seedlings.

GRO, at its current price of $1.65 has a market cap of just $104.2 million. GRO is sitting on $175.3 million in cash! That's $2.78 per share in cash! (GRO has almost no debt, a tiny $1.3 million in short-term borrowings.)

GRO has shareholder equity of $270.7 million which equals a book value of $4.29 per share!

GRO's 3Q 2008 revenues were up 19.8% over the prior year to $12.9 million with net income (excluding non-cash compensation charges) of $3.9 million or $0.06 per share.

The 3Q is typically one of GRO's weaker quarters because revenues come almost solely from their sheep breeding products. GRO's 4Q and full-year 2008 results are due out by the end of June, and 4Q is typically one of GRO's strongest quarters because it is corn growing season!

GRO's shareholder equity improved by $17.3 million over the past nine months with a $0.29 increase in book value!

GRO looks like it could be a buy. I am going to do some research and consider getting into them. A company with that much cash, and such little debt is a safe haven right now. More so with agriculture, we still have to eat.

Hi,

my view on SEED... ( purely technical ) Seems like a double top that just broke neckline last friday...i would wait for a rebound of the stock and break the neckline again to go short...

Maybe can pick up the stock again near the 200D MA...

Different Agri stocks and agri commodities including hot beverage can give attractive returns at different times. For example initially many market players became bearish on corn. Those who did study on USA drought and other factors ended up with becoming great winners. In some frontier and emerging markets when others became bullish on palm oil and rubber related stocks some other intelligent players became bullish on Tea stocks before others.

In any market, commodity or stock market there can be bull stocks and bull currencies and bull commodities at different times .When some commodities become bearish some commodities can become bullish.

It is time to identify next most bullish agri stocks and soft commodities including food and hot beverages with demand and supply mismatch in the coming years and coming decade.

My ideas are not a recommendation to either buy or sell any security or currency. Please do your own research prior to making any investment decisions.
