General Rules

Our goal here at StockRants is to provide an atmosphere where members can feel at ease and have an enjoyable and comfortable place to come to discuss all aspects of stock and options trading. We will not tolerate flaming, trolling, fighting, baiting, and disrespect of others. If you wouldn’t say it in person, don’t say it here. We believe strongly in free speech at StockRants and we will rarely censor you. With that in mind please note that we will not tolerate hateful, racial, or otherwise slanderous and disruptive remarks against other members and staff. In general, don’t be a meathead and you should be fine.

Posting Etiquette

Please use the search feature before starting a new thread. Use descriptive titles in your posts and always use proper grammar. If you get called out as illiterate, it could be pretty embarrassing.

Try to add a thread prefix where available, tickers when asked for them, and chart images if you have them. Do keep your posts in their proper forum, or you will likely be reprimanded by a moderator. Above all, be courteous to your fellow traders.

Cross-posting

Cross-posting to multiple forums can earn you negative reputation from other members or infraction points by a moderator.

Reputation

This forum uses a reputation and infraction system. Users gain Reputation points from other members for posts they found useful. You can also lose reputation in this same way so think before posting something stupid.

Reputation warring or begging for votes is not permitted. A singature link is fine. Be advised that gaming the system (easy to detect) could and likely will lead to loss of reputation by participating members.

Spam

Spam of any kind is NOT allowed in posts or signatures. This includes soliciting and advertising. You WILL be permanently and immediately banned. A link in your signature, however, IS allowed if you are making legitimate posts. If you are concerned as to whether your site could be an issue, contact a Mod or Admin prior to including it in your signature.

Questionable / Illegal Activity

Posting, linking to, or discussing any questionable or illegal activity is strictly prohibited. This includes pornography, hate speech, illegal file sharing/torrents, breaking of copyright or software EULAs including cracks and serial #’s, and linking to any site that could be seen as a scam by our membership.

Staff

Moderators and other staff have the “final word” in any dispute or interpretation of forum rules. Try not to piss them off.

Misc

We strive to maintain a PG-13 user experience, but this is not always possible, and in most cases we can not take responsibility for this forum's content.
