What is a VIP Trader?

Reaching VIP status on StockRants has a few benefits:

• Access to private trading forums and VIP downloads.
• Get a Paypal donation icon on ALL of your posts.
• Allowed 3 links in your signature to promote your blog, twitter, etc.
• Ability to browse the forums invisibly.
• Ability to run polls forum wide.
• Store double the amount of private messages.
• Prestige and acclaim with other StockRants users.
• Access to other hidden features of the website.

How to Become a VIP Trader

We do not charge for access here in any way, and reaching VIP status is completely free. The key to doing this is achieving 500 Reputation points, which can only be doled out by other members. The system promotes a 'cream rises to the top' mentality.



The test user above has 516 Reputation points, and a 31 Reputation power. Reputation points can be given or taken from a user in 2 ways:

1. By clicking the plus sign next to a users post you can give a varying amount of Reputation based on your total Reputation power. You can also leave a note that the user will see in his User CP.
2. By giving a post a thumbs up / thumbs down rating. The user will automatically be given/taken 50% of your Rep power score. This is also viewable in the receiving users Control Panel.

Other Variables of the Reputation System

Here are some other variables that effect the Reputation system, including checks to deter users from gaming the system.



Some Things to Consider

Try to actively give reputation to users who earn it. By participating in the system you will help users to achieve a higher reputation, organically incentivizing the content made available here. This should bring improved stock tips, tools, and trading advice to all of us.

Think twice before removing Rep from users, or use the variable (plus sign) control to take just a few points away.

Do NOT participate in Reputation wars or attempts to game the system. If you are spending your time flaming users and cannot be mature enough to handle the points system we have in place, maybe this forum isn't for you. Also be aware that the entire system is very transparent to staff and other members, and you will likely lose access here very fast by stirring trouble.

One last thing. The system works both ways. if you fall out of favor with members here, you may find yourself in the Dog House.



Members of this usergroup have very limited access, and can only post to the Lounge. State your case in this forum, and if you are lucky, the userbase may give you another shot.
