Default Completely new to the game

Hi all,

Just though I'd drop by and introduce myself!

I'm completely new to investing and have only recently finished uni (a 'yoof' as we'd say up north). I currently work as a geologist for a geological and mining consultancy, which I suppose sparked my interest in dealing. In fact, if it weren't for the recession, I'd actually be in Western Australia right now, cutting my teeth as a true field or mine geologist, working on some of the projects that hopefully we can all make a pretty penny off!

A lot of people seem to be investing in commodities at the moment - so if anyone wants a semi-informed opinion of a company I'd be happy to help (unless said company is one we've done work for or are currently doing work for.. conflict of interest and all that ).

I know most people probably know, but if you're interested in investing in commodities I would suggest checking out the various reporting codes - JORC, NI 43-101, etc, and the reasons they're there.

Cheers!

Welcome!

Sounds like you have a relative wealth of information at your disposal there. The only UK traded speculative mining stock I still hold (mainly working the US exchanges these days) is SOLG, which I've had for donkey's years but finally seems to be acquiring signs of life.

Cheers, Spinner

(formerly somewhat near London, now rather farther away in Canada, also a recipient of a Geology degree from Southampton in a former life!)
