Smile New Here!! Looking for Advice!!

Hello Everyone,

Came to this site because someone mentioned it on a google discussion and said there's not as much BS and spammers, which I have looked at some postings and found that it is a more intelligent forum. I haven't been trading for that long decided to jump in about 2 1/2 months ago but not with alot of money because the wife would kill me.

A little background on my past stock performances, first off I haven't taken a loss yet but also got stuck holding for that reason and missed out on buying others at the lows. I started with C, HIG, LVS, AIG, MGM, EVC, WRES, and PCX. I sold everything except for LVS and jumped into smaller stocks only for the reason that I can buy huge amounts of shares which in turn gain a profit faster. Not much luck so far I feel I am in the type of stocks that will be long. I now have LVS, AMNE, ACTC, SPNG, HEB, ACUS(very little). LVS I will go long unless I feel and research provides me with a great stock then I will sell in order to buy. The rest I think I will need to hold for a long time unless HEB gets approval and also jumps more due to H1N1 then I will dump. Like I said I didn't start with much I came in with $1,700 with 38% of that being my son's baptism money, I felt I should invest it in stocks with hopes of turning it in to something he can use for college, oh by the way he is almost 5 months old.

A little about my self, I am 30 living in Pennsylvania I am a Federal Police Officer and my wife is a Registered Nurse. We built a house average size so money doesn't grow on trees in our house. I am in the Air Force Guard and was on active duty in the Air Force for 10 1/2 years. I will be gone away at the begining of 2010 for hopefully only 6 months for a deployment overseas but unknown to where, probably to one of the Stan's. If I can make enough money to pay my off my house by the end of the year then I will leave the Air Force and I won't need to deploy which would be great beacue I would miss my wife and new and only son.

Send me a pivate message if you think you can help me achieve this goal, if not I hope to gather enough information from these forums. Thanks everyone, hope to here from you at some point in time. Good Luck

Hi Rem15,

Welcome to StockRants - it is good to have you on board!

This is a great site, I was invited here myself by one of the Moderators and in a very short time have got a huge comfort factor with the people here and the style of sharing knowledge and the fact that we don't put up with the BS that appears on other forums.

My signature line below in blue says it as it is, I feel - 'listen' to this site and you will learn a lot - everyone has a different specialist area but sharing that kinda works in a way that is proved every day. There is a wealth of good advice and very learned wisdom on this site - click away and dig into whatever you want to and you will come away enriched.

Always remember though, people can learn something from you too, so don't be afraid to post what you think - no-one will shoot you down and we can all benefit from a different perspective.

Look forward to hearing more from you and here's hoping we can help you not have to deploy!!

Cheers,
JonW

Thanks JonW. I'm not sure what site you use for trading but I currently use Zecco, I updated my account to a Margin account mainly so I can see my funds show up instantly after I sell but that didn't happen. I was curious though about buying on Margin, I doubt that I will but have no idea how to do it. How do you select the option to make your purchase on Margin? If I do buy on margin it will be only the amount I can cover by selling another stock. Also any advice on if I should sell my LVS shares? I don't own alot but I bought 82 shares at an average of $5.04 which now it is almost double, I guess that would be a 100% gain. I was planning on using that money to reinvest into something else. Some of it I would sink into AMNE because I bought a total of 45,000 shares but my average is about 0.018 which now it's at 0.0045 so I can try to get my average to drop significantly. Also I would like to consider another stock but unsure of anything that has potential at a good pps. Any help would be great.
