Post Background Info

Just thought I'd put a bit of background info for everyone. I'am currently a holder myself for just a small investment, and in the last couple of days a profit is finally showing.

Remember this is a high risk share with a company in debt, however the potential upside could prove fruitful.

The company points out there have been increased areas of activity in Kurdistan. Sterling has a 53.33 per cent interest (40 per cent fully diluted) in the Sangaw North PSC where a 325 km 2D seismic programme was completed on the block in late 2008. The company is fully carried for its share of well costs up to the point of testing, and the first well is due to spud in Q4 this year.

Overview from their website Sterling Energy - Latest News

"Sterling Energy has built a portfolio of production assets in the USA and West Africa, which helps underpin through cashflow an exploration programme predominately in Africa. The exploration portfolio increased significantly in size and quality through the Fusion acquisition of 2003. This was complemented by the Mauritanian financing deal for the Chinguetti oil field in 2004 which commenced production in February 2006. This balanced portfolio is anticipated to grow through leveraging technical and commercial expertise and further investments. Sterling is looking to enhance its portfolio of assets from exploration through to production across the USA, Africa and the Middle East".

I've cast a few quick glances at it now and then. I think it may be due to gulfkeystone going nuts recently. Apparently SEY is virtually next door to GKP and people are hoping the same happens to it.

Disclaimer - the above is based on message board heysay, if this is total balls feel free to correct me.
