UPDATE 1-Deals of the day -- mergers and acquisitions | Deals | Mergers & Acquisitions | Reuters
OZ Minerals' proposed asset sale to China Minmetals will be voted upon by shareholders at OZ's annual meeting on 11 June 2009. Meanwhile, OZ has rejected two alternative bids, one from Macquarie Group, the other from RFC Corporate Finance and RBC Capital Markets. OZ claims the last-minute alternative offers did not provide better value or certainty than the proposed $A1.52bn deal with China Minmetals.

(OZL AU) advanced 2.8 percent to 91 Australian cents. The mining company, which is seeking to refinance A$1.1 billion ($872 million) of debt, said it rejected two unsolicited recapitalization proposals because they were “inferior” to an offer from China Minmetals Group.

Guess the deal was 'inferior' 'cos it didn't involve a top job for the departing CEO!!!

Call me cynical!!!!

Don't forget, shareholders voting on this on Thursday this week (11th)

No share price impact today so all built into the price already & no surprises, I guess.

Hopefully now we can get back to the business of pulling good stuff out of Prominent Hill.

Cheers,

Big Smile BOOM!!!

June 12 (Bloomberg) -- OZ Minerals Ltd. rose to the highest in seven months in Sydney trading after shareholders approved its sale of $1.39 billion of mines to China Minmetals Corp. and analysts raised price targets on the gold and copper producer.
Melbourne-based OZ Minerals jumped 17 percent on its first day of trade after the approval that will eliminate the company’s debt. Goldman Sachs JBWere Pty, which advised OZ Minerals on the sale, resumed coverage with a “buy” rating and a price target of A$1.20 in a report dated yesterday.
“OZ Minerals now has net cash, one producing copper/gold asset with some expansion potential and a number of prospective exploration targets in Australia and Asia,” Goldman Sachs said. The company will have about A$700 million in cash and may make a profit of A$50 million ($41 million) this year, up from a previous forecast for a A$33.7 million loss, the report said.
The stock advanced to A$1.045 at the 4:10 p.m. Sydney time close on the Australian stock exchange, the highest since Nov. 5. Macquarie Group Ltd. raised its price target to A$1.10 from A$1 and maintained an “outperform” rating.
“We are obviously very pleased that the market likes it,” Bruce Loveday, executive general manager of business support for OZ Minerals, said today by phone. Current trading volume of 86 million shares is more than triple the daily average of the past three months.
“OZ Minerals is our top pick in the mining sector,” RBS Equities Australia Ltd. analysts Lyndon Fagan and Warren Edney said in a report dated yesterday, raising its target price to A$1.09 and maintaining a “buy” rating. Its “balance will be very strong post the transaction, allowing it the flexibility to pursue growth,” the analysts said.
The company is likely to target copper, coal, and iron ore assets, Morgan Stanley analysts Craig Campbell and Cameron Judd said in a report dated yesterday. Morgan Stanley has an “overweight” rating on the stock and a price target of A$1.02.

Australian miner Oz Minerals produced 31 909 t of copper and 41 572 oz of gold from its only operating mine, Prominent Hill, in the March quarter, the company reported on Thursday.

Copper and gold production from the mine in South Australia had exceeded expectations, Oz Minerals said in its quarterly report.

Does the platform still exist? I read that Oz Minerals ranks second in the world in terms of zinc production. The company produces zinc, copper, lead, gold, silver. It was founded in 2008 through the merger of transnational companies Oxiana Limited and Zinifex Limited. I wonder if we have similar companies here https://populationstat.com/united-states/salt-lake-city. Where to look for this information?
