My first pick here so go easy on me please...Chinese insurance companies are looking to have a good day on news of a 29% profit increase from CLI.

I saw on CNBC Asia just now that 17/20 analysts rate this company a BUY.

China Life (601628.SS), which leads rival Ping An Insurance (Group) Co (2318.HK) in the mainland market, said it earned 18.2 billion yuan ($2.7 billion) in the first half, compared with 15.8 billion yuan a year earlier.

So you could watch the sector today and see what happens but I would expect a nice gain today for CLI on either exchange. GLTA

SHANGHAI (Dow Jones)--China Life Insurance Co. (LFC), the country's largest life insurer by premiums, said Wednesday its first-half net profit rose 29% from a year earlier due to gains in the value of its securities holdings.

Net profit for the six months ended June 30 rose to CNY13.92 billion from CNY10.77 billion a year earlier, according to Chinese accounting standards.

Under international accounting standards, the company's net profit was CNY18.23 billion, up from CNY15.84 billion a year earlier, in line with the median CNY18.23 billion forecast of four analysts surveyed earlier by Dow Jones Newswires.

The insurer said it booked a gain of CNY1.52 billion on the value of its financial assets, compared with a loss of CNY7.77 billion a year earlier.

Investment income fell to CNY33.69 billion from CNY34.20 billion.

China Life said its first-half premium income fell to CNY172.31 billion from CNY181.45 billion a year earlier.
