Alphabet (GOOGL) Gains But Lags Market: What You Should Know

Alphabet (GOOGL) closed at $1,116.36 in the latest trading session, marking a +0.6% move from the prior day. This change lagged the S&P 500′s 1.09% gain on the day. Meanwhile, the Dow gained 1.13%, and the Nasdaq, a tech-heavy index, added 1.51%.

Heading into today, shares of the internet search leader had gained 2.18% over the past month, outpacing the Computer and Technology sector’s loss of 0.28% and the S&P 500′s gain of 1.92% in that time.

Wall Street will be looking for positivity from GOOGL as it approaches its next earnings report date. This is expected to be February 7, 2019. The company is expected to report EPS of $11.01, up 13.51% from the prior-year quarter. Meanwhile, our latest consensus estimate is calling for revenue of $31.26 billion, up 20.83% from the prior-year quarter.

GOOGL’s full-year Zacks Consensus Estimates are calling for earnings of $42.01 per share and revenue of $109.51 billion. These results would represent year-over-year changes of +31.08% and +22.79%, respectively.
