Motorola Expands Public Safety Portfolio to Drive Revenues

Zacks

Motorola Solutions, Inc. MSI recently announced that it has been awarded a contract by the Florida Department of Management Services to build and manage the new statewide Project 25 public safety radio system.

Per the deal, Motorola will provide the state administration with an interoperable ASTRO 25 land mobile radio system for better coverage, reliability and audio clarity for first responders across the region. Notably, the new Statewide Law Enforcement Radio System buildout, valued more than half a billion dollars, is slated to begin in 2020.

The ultra-modern ASTRO 25 network will provide interoperable, multi-agency communications within federal, state and local governments first responders to better support law enforcement officials and help protect millions of residents and visitors across Florida.

In another development, Motorola announced that officers of the Orlando Police Department are using its Si500 body-worn cameras to reinforce community trust by improving accountability and transparency. The company has been working closely with the Orlando Police Department to provide them with solutions to protect residents and visitors.

The Si500, along with its digital evidence management software, is a secure solution that safeguards evidence against tampering. Videos are encrypted both on the Si500 and when being transmitted over Wi-Fi. Chain of custody is automatically established when a video and additional information is captured.

The Si500 camera includes a touch screen for evidence management and has a built-in speaker microphone that connects to Motorola APX two-way radios. It works seamlessly with Motorola’s end-to-end suite of command center software.

By augmenting its public safety portfolio with state-of-the-art products, Motorola expects to strengthen its leading position in the market and generate a healthy revenue stream in the future.

Motorola continues to expand its service offerings to provide solutions to various segments of the public safety workflow. These systems drive demand for additional device sales, and promote software upgrades and infrastructure expansion. The comprehensive suite of services ensures continuity and reduces risks related to critical communications operations.

Courtesy of such advanced service offerings, shares of Motorola have gained 39.5% compared with 23.5% growth recorded by the industry over the past year.
